CALL TO WORSHIP -

May God be gracious to us and bless us;

may he make his face shine upon us

Selah so that your way may be known on earth,

your salvation among all nations.

Let the peoples praise you, God;

let all the peoples praise you.

Let the nations rejoice and shout for joy,

for you judge the peoples with fairness

and lead the nations on earth.

Selah Let the peoples praise you, God,

let all the peoples praise you.

The earth has produced its harvest;

God, our God, blesses us. God will bless us,

and all the ends of the earth will fear him.

Psalms 67:1-7

Prayer

SONG | You Reign

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Have mercy on me, O God,

according to your steadfast love;

according to your abundant mercy

blot out my transgressions.

Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,

and cleanse me from my sin!

For I know my transgressions,

and my sin is ever before me.

Against you, you only, have I sinned

and done what is evil in your sight,

so that you may be justified in your words

and blameless in your judgment.

Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,

and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Psalms 51:1-6

Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent, for the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk-in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

PRAYER OF ASSURANCE

God is our refuge and strength,

a helper who is always found

in times of trouble.

Therefore we will not be afraid,

though the earth trembles

and the mountains topple

into the depths of the seas,

though its water roars and foams

and the mountains quake with its turmoil.

Selah There is a river—

its streams delight the city of God,

the holy dwelling place of the Most High.

God is within her; she will not be toppled.

God will help her when the morning dawns.

Nations rage, kingdoms topple;

the earth melts when he lifts his voice.

The Lord of Armies is with us;

the God of Jacob is our stronghold.

Selah Come, see the works of the Lord,

who brings devastation on the earth.

He makes wars cease throughout the earth.

He shatters bows and cuts spears to pieces;

he sets wagons ablaze.

“Stop fighting, and know that I am God,

exalted among the nations, exalted on the earth.”

The Lord of Armies is with us;

the God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah

Psalms 46 1-11

SCRIPTURE READING - Genesis 15: 1-6

After these events, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield; your reward will be very great. But Abram said, “Lord God, what can you give me since I am childless and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” Abram continued, “Look, you have given me no offspring, so a slave born in my house will be my heir.” Now the word of the Lord came to him: “This one will not be your heir; instead, one who comes from your own body will be your heir.” He took him outside and said, “Look at the sky and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” Then he said to him, “Your offspring will be that numerous.” Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.

THIS IS THE WORD OF THE LORD.

COMMUNION

For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: On the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, also he took the cup, after supper, and said, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. (1 Corinthians 11.23-26)

Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith:

Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.

(For the bread) “This is the body of Christ, broken for you.”

(For the juice) “This is the blood of Christ, shed for you.”

The Gifts of God for the People of God. Take them in remembrance that Christ died for you, and feed on him in your hearts by faith, with thanksgiving.
